Our History
Since established, July 1, 2024. The Restorative Nesting Foundation has been involved in multiple community service opportunities. Our most impactful involvement in our community is preparing warm meals for individuals housed in local shelters due to hardship. We gather together to cook full course meals that will restore proper nutrition and nurture their souls.
Our Why
Hi, I’m Tamrisa Matlock, Founder and CEO of The Restorative Nesting Foundation, located in Northeast Georgia.
The foundation was born from a simple, yet powerful moment in my home. One evening, I asked my daughter to finish her vegetables and show me her plate when she was done. She returned with an empty plate, and I excused her from the table—only to later discover she had hidden the vegetables instead of eating them.
In that moment, I realized something deeper: she didn’t yet understand life beyond the comfort of what had been provided for her.
That experience led me to reflect on my own upbringing. After the passing of my mother, my siblings and I were raised by our grandparents. In their later years, they chose to care for us instead of retiring. Watching them work tirelessly shaped my understanding of sacrifice, gratitude, and the importance of not wasting what we are given. We didn’t always have everything we wanted, but we always had what we needed—and nothing went to waste.
Around the same time, I was grieving the loss of my younger brother. While he often appeared joyful and at peace, I knew he carried unseen struggles. His life reminded me that many people quietly endure hardship, even when it isn’t visible to others.
Through reflection, I found clarity in my purpose: to serve others, restore hope, and give back to those navigating difficult seasons of life.
That purpose became The Restorative Nesting Foundation.
